THE CADET TRAINING PROGRAMME
At Columbia, our greatest strength is our People – both at sea and ashore

Serving of over 400 vessels, with a diverse pool of

22,000
seafarers. We are deeply committed to upholding the highest standards of quality, safety, health, and environmental protection.
Our Cadets Programme

Our Cadet Selection Programme welcomes passionate and dedicated maritime graduates who are committed to excellence in their profession.

We place strong emphasis on each individual’s growth, providing the guidance and support needed for both personal and professional development.

The Company’s Cadet Programme plays a vital role in shaping the next generation of seafarers from within. By reinforcing partnerships with maritime academies, and working closely with organisations such as IMEC, we align cadet development with evolving industry needs. At the same time, we continue to expand our national talent pool to help address the global shortage of qualified maritime professionals.

We nurture every Cadet’s potential through continuous support and development, shaping the next generation of confident maritime officers.

The Cadet Programme provides a clear and structured path for aspiring maritime professionals. Through a blend of hands-on experience and comprehensive training, cadets are equipped to develop technical competence, build strong character, and grow into confident, responsible officers ready to lead at sea.

Our mission is clear – to help the Cadets of today grow into the capable Officers of tomorrow.

THE FEMALE CADET MENTORING PROGRAMME

Empowering Women At Sea

At Columbia, we are building a more inclusive maritime future. With the industry undergoing a remarkable transformation with more women stepping into roles across all levels, we are working hard towards gender equality and ensuring all opportunities are equal and fair.

Columbia continues to strengthen its workforce while embracing the valuable insights, perspectives, and skills that women contribute, and the ongoing shift is steering the industry toward a more balanced, dynamic, and forward-thinking future.

Our Female Cadet mentoring Programme, which was launched in August 2023, was designed to support female cadets in developing the competencies, confidence, and leadership qualities essential for successful maritime careers. As the programme continues to move forward, Columbia Grouo’s main focus remains on cultivating its own generation of future seafarers by not only encouraging women to embark on seafaring careers, but ensuring they are supported beyond cadetship. Addressing key areas such as work-life balance, and offering flexible career pathways, Columbia aims to retain and empower female professionals across the maritime industry.
